Our Screened bottom board has a #8 screen to provide for additional ventilation. In addition, screened bottom boards can be an effective part of your Integrated Pest Management adding approximately 15% effectiveness in varroa removal as the varroa that are groomed from the bees will fall through the screen and to the ground removing them from the hive. These bottom boards have a slot to allow for the insertion of a board to either close the hive or add a sticky board to conduct mite counts.
Our Solid Bottom Board has a floor constructed from tongue and groove boards which prevents gaps as the wood naturally expands and contracts with changes in humidity.
Have a Screened Bottom Board? Add a Screened Bottom Board Plastic Insert! This is a plastic corrugated sign material to insert under the screen to allow you to close the bottom board in the winter as well as to be used as a varroa mite count board as a part of your Integrated Pest Management.
